Leapster Explorer Not Connecting To Leapfrog Connect Application

when i connect the leapster explorer to leapfrog connect application, it says connecting then a screen pops up telling to unplug and turn off explorer, whilst top of screen it says downloading and updating. the explorer still does not connect
