Lg Bd550 And Wireless Router

Purchased the LG BD550 blue ray player and only have a wireless router. In this old house we cannot connect to the router on the second floor via a wired connection. Our Time Warner cable/internet works great, but how can we now get our LB BD550 to stream Netflix. I have read to use a bridge, can someone explain what that is and which to purchase?
