Ice Maker Under Producing.

Exactly what triggers the ice maker tray to activate - I figure the drop bar - but the ice maker sits there with one third bin - with a frozen batch of ice in the tray but doesn't drop them. I get my ice for my drinks from inside. Is it possible the Main board senses when the ice valve is triggered, & then starts the cycle. the old style was incredibly simple to use & work on.... Plus always worked. Now I always have one third bin & have to buy ice for guests. Thank you for any input, Dave
