Most likely you need to clean out the dryer vent.  They get filled with lint.  The drier needs to move air through it to carry the moisture away. If it can't move air, you get hot wet clothes! The overheating of the sides is a clue too, it's trapping all the heat (not good for heating elements).
Unplug the dryer and pull it out. Unhook the vent pipe and see if you can see through it- there might be a little lint stuck in it, but it should be pretty clear. You can take a hose from a sweeper and clean it out. If it's not plugged, you will need to check the fan on the motor that moves the air.

You can find the manual for your LG DLE8377WM on HelpOwl or you can choose your viewing format at LG.

You can also use LG's Online Repair Portal where you must register.

You can also call LG:  1-888-542-2623

LG offers the following suggestions:

When the dryer is not drying or takes too long to dry, check the following:

1. The appropriate cycle was selected for the load type. The Sensor Dry Cycles have different temperature settings, making cycle selection important for performance.

2. The appropriate Dry Level was selected. When using Sensor Dry, the Dry Level can be adjusted. It defaults to "Normal" which will end the cycle with the clothing very slightly damp. This is to prevent overdrying, which can damage clothes over time. If desired, choose a higher dry level so that clothes will come out completely dry at the end of the cycle.

3. The lint filter was cleaned prior to the start of the cycle. The lint filter should be cleaned before or after every load. If not, accumulation of lint on this filter will result in restricted air flow, which will increase dry times. In some instances, dry time can be increased dramatically. The Check Filter Light will come on before every cycle as a reminder to clean this for optimum performance.

4. The dryer was not overloaded. If the load size is too large, air flow through the drum is restricted which can prevent the load from drying completely. It can also prevent the items from tumbling properly causing some items to be dry while others are not. It may be necessary to reduce the load size. If it is a large, bulky item it may be necessary to rearrange the item in the drum and run the cycle again.

5. The dryer is level. Make sure the dryer is leveled to ensure proper air flow. On Sensor Dry Cycles the clothes have to make contact with the sensors in the front of the drum for the unit to determine when the load is dry. If the clothes do not come in contact with these sensors because the unit is not leveled, then the cycle will shut off.

6. Venting is installed properly and is not kinked, torn or blocked. If the air flow is restricted through the exhaust duct, it can cause the heating element to shut on and off frequently. This can make it seem as if the unit is not heating.

I realize that this is an electric dryer but it should still be vented.
