Kitchenaid Kuds35fxss Dishwasher Stops In The Middle Of The Normal Wash Cycle.

I have the KUDS35FXSS (15 months old and out of warranty) and in the last few days it has stopped in the middle of the Normal Wash Cycle every time i try to run it.  There is light on the front that turns blue during the cycle, red during drying and green when finished.  After about 1 hour (normally 2-3 hour for full cycle) the light goes out and it stops. There is no water in the bottom.  I have tried and successfully ran it on the 1hr cycle (light is green at the end).  Any suggestions as to why the NORMAL WASH Cycle won't complete but the 1hr cycle does?
