Stem Stuck On Base

I have a KFPM770 Food Processor.  The main stem is stuck on the base.  Is there any way to get this stem off without destroying the machine?  I was slicing some very small potatoes and the slicing disk cut into the top of the work bowl cover and jammed the machine.  I was able to get the work bowl cover off and pull out the slicing disk.  Now the machine will run, but I can’t get the stem off the base.  THX!
