why does my KitchenAid squeak?

What is squeaking? The bowl or the actual mixer head? If it's the blade sqeaking against the bowl, you need to adjust the head a little using that screw at the top. The beater blade sometimes squeaks if the sides of the bowl are empty and all the "stuff" is at the bottom.

Are Kitchen Aid mixers noisy?

The motor of the KitchenAid mixer is heavy because it can work against a thick and large quantity of food. But usually, heavy-duty Motors come up with some unusual noises and sounds. The great part is the KitchenAid mixer motor does not create any noise when it's functioning at a higher speed.
