Won't Turn Off

We've had our Kitchen Aid coffee maker for about a year now and all of a sudden it won't turn off on it's own, we have to unplug it. We use to be able to pour the water in and then hit the 'on' button twice and then it would start brewing, but now it it starts brewing as soon as we pour the water in. Not sure what happened

It sounds like you have a bad switch. The switch should only make contact when you push it, but it seems like your switch is bent or deformed, and now makes contact all the time, so any time power is supplied, the switch is closed. If you can replace the switch, that will likely solve the problem.
