Difference Between Borrowing And Purchasing Kindle Book

I am in college and need to highlight passages in a book and make notations in the book as I read the book. So, I have the following two questions:If I borrow the book through Kindle Unlimited, can I highlight the book and make notations in the book and will the highlights and notations be saved when I close the book so that the next time I open the book the highlights and notations will be visible?If I purchase the kindle book, can I highlight the book and make notations on the book and will the highlights and notations in the book be saved when I close the book so that the next time I open the book the highlights and notations will be visible?

With device synchronization on, your Kindle or Kindle Reading Apps will always sync your last page read. Synchronization will also keep track of any bookmarks, highlights, or notes that you add so you can view them on another device.
