Pet Service And Luggage Questions

I just booked a flight with jetblue, and i'm planning on bringing my dog with me, can i book my dog when i am at the airport and it still costs 100 dollars? or I will have to book him ahead of time, also, I know i can check one bag for free, but how many carry ons am i allow to have? two total with the dog? or dog plus two more small bags? thanks!

Please know that there is a lot of information needed to travel with a pet on an airline.  You definitely need to advise the airline in advance because they only allow a certain number of pets on any given flight in the aircraft cabin.

Also, I believe this line in the website is incorrect and it may be helpful to clarify with an airline representative as it doesn't make much sense in the website  "(The booking fee will be waived for customers traveling with a pet)"

General Information on Traveling with Pets

JetBlue gladly accepts small cats and dogs in the aircraft cabin on both domestic and international flights (with the exception of flights to Jamaica, Barbados, and Saint Lucia). To book your pet, call 1-800-JETBLUE (538-2583).Please note: Pets cannot be booked online.

Keep in mind:

  • There is a pet fee of $100 each way.
  • The booking fee will be waived for customers traveling with a pet
  • We only accept small cats and dogs as pets in the aircraft cabin onboard our flights. At this time, we do notship live animals as cargo or in the bellies of any aircraft.
  • The combined weight of the pet and carrier may not exceed 20 pounds.
  • The pet must remain inside a closed carrier while at the airport and in the aircraft. 
  • Only four pets are allowed per flight. The fourth and final pet must be booked at the airport at the ticket counter within 24 hours of departure and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. 
  • Pets cannot travel alone; they must be accompanied by a customer.
  • Only one pet is allowed per customer, with a few exceptions. Please contact a JetBlue representative at 1-800-JETBLUE (538-2583) for more information.
  • A pet will count as your one personal carry-on item
  • You will not be assigned an exit row or bulkhead seat, and you will be seated in a window or aisle seat.
  • Your pet must remain in its carrier underneath the seat in front of you for the duration of your flight.

Before you go

Make sure you obtain the following items before you travel. You will be asked to present them at check in. 

  • Required pet vaccination and documentation for each destination of your trip - required for international travel only 
  • Identification tags and vet certificate - required for international travel only 
  • A carrier that does not exceed 17"L x 12.5"W x 8.5"H. Your pet must be able to stand up and move around in the carrier with ease
    • Combined weight of your pet and carrier may not exceed 20 pounds
    • Carriers must have a leak proof bottom and must be well ventilated
    • Soft-sided and hard-sided carriers are acceptable
    • Only one pet per carrier is allowed
