Rth6300b Wiring Issues.

Replacing a manual/mercury stat with the above. Old stat had G, W, Y, RC and RH wires. the RH was a jumper between the RC and Y wires. I tried wiring the same way, and removed the R/RC jumper as well. G, W, Y, and RC wires all in their marked positions. I put RH in the R position as the manual suggests. But the RH does not go anywhere so I put the other end with Y as the old stat did. Heater is not getting a signal. Batteries are new, I hear the stat click on, but the furnace does not fire and no fan.Any suggestions would be appreciated.
