Tower Fan Model Number Hy-145c Makes Loud Noise On Most Settings.
Fan was purchased Aug. 2012 and makes loud noise on most settings, especially lower speeds. What would cause this?? At times it is so loud, we ave to turn it off.

I took out the four screws (2 on top, 2 on bottom - of the upper fan section of unit) holding the back of the tower onto the front section. When I turned on the fan, it ran very quietly. I tried putting the four screws (2 on top, 2 on bottom - in the upper fan section of unit) back into place, and once again, the loud rattling returned. I tried taking out the two top screws again (left the bottom 2 screws in place - in the upper fan section of unit), and it ran quietly. I don't know why this issue of the top two screws makes the fan rattle, but when you take the top two screws out, it runs very quietly.

The previous poster was correct, removal of the top two screws solves the problem. I took off the back panel (there are plastic clips that are hard to deal with and may snap), and determined that the alignment of the top screw holes from the rear panel force the steel bracket holding the top bearing upward, and causes that bearing to rattle. One could redrill those screw holes in the rear panel a bit lower, or just not have those screws in place, and it works fine. Happy sleeping!
