Broken Product

I recently purchased a homelite Honda 3100psi pressure washer, it was used, the employee in that department told me that there was absolutley nothing wrong with it. When i got home i put it to use and it seems to overheat and almost powers off after blowing a large cloud of grey smoke. What can i do regarding the return or swapping of this product?

Take the product back to the store with your receipt. You will need documentation since the price you paid on a previously used/returned item will be different than the floor price in their computer.

If too much time has passed on power equipment you might be out of luck but if your receipt is in hand, you can indicate that the pressure washer was misrepresented as being in working order when indeed it isn't. Have you tried to power it up more than once?

Home Depot had a reputation of not being good about appliance returns and this item might fall into that category as well. In the last few years, that image has improved.

That said, the only thing you can do is to try to return it. If you paid by credit or debit card, be sure to have that with you although depending upon the amount of time since the purchase, the best you might be able to get is a store credit.
