Deskjet 1050 Not Working On Lion

Hi, I have recently just purhcased a HP Deskjet 1050 and it is not working on my Macbook Pro running Mac OS 10.7. I install the driver software from HP website and when I run installation software and as prompted turn the printer on and plug it in via USB it states that there were no printers found. The same is also happening on my partners laptop running Windows 7. Thanks Tom
