E1 stands for a button stuck close. Meaning the computer of the unit is sensing that one of the manual button on the touch pad is always depressed. meaning it has a close contact.

These buttons uses a thin concave like metal dome and when you press it, the dome reverses it configuration and becomes a saucer so the center would touch the middle and make a contact.

Now, due to usage and tear and wear, these metal domes cracks and would stay on the saucer position when pressed then you have a stuck button.

The best solution really is to replace the whole touch pad but if you can bring the touch pad to an electronic guy, then he can pin point which switch is stuck close and he can swap this with one of the other switches which you do not use, let us say you have a swing button there which is more important than a power button. Then before soldering the bad switch, let him release the contact first. Or better yet is not to solder it anymore since it could be detected again by the unit's processor.

I hope this is helpful to you!
