It is normal for the GE APEL70LW's internal pump to leave about 4 to 5 inches of water in the bucket. This is because the pump is designed to drain the bucket to a certain level, below which the pump cannot reach. This is to prevent the pump from running dry and overheating.

If you need the bucket to be completely empty, you can manually empty it or use the drain hose.

Here are some tips for using the GE APEL70LW's internal pump:

Make sure the bucket is properly inserted into the dehumidifier.

Make sure the drain hose is properly attached to the dehumidifier and the drain.

Make sure the drain hose is not kinked or blocked.

Make sure the drain hose is not longer than 16 feet.

Make sure the dehumidifier is placed on a level surface.

If you have checked all of the above and the pump is still not emptying the bucket completely, you may need to contact GE customer service for assistance.
