Can't Hear Audio Thru Laptop Default Speakers When Ge Microphone Is Plugged In
Hi -I just received my new desktop microphone and when I plug it in to my laptop, others can hear me talking, but no audio from my laptop can be heard. For example, even if I am playing an advertisement in my browser, I can't hear anything until I unplug the desktop microphone and then hear it just fine. My goal was to use this improved microphone for audio meetings, so that I don't have to wear a headset as often.Thanks for any help in directing me to settings that may help. Note that I am using Windows 7 Enterprise.

Since you didn't list your laptop model there's no way to tell for sure but it sounds as if you're inserting the mic into the headphone jack. Just a thought.

Thank you, that answer got me on the right track. My lap top (Dell Latitude E5430) has a headset jack, but not a microphone jack. I ended up using a USB splitter (DSP adapter) and plugged the desktop microphone into that without anything plugged into the headphones jack. Then just updated the default playback device in the Control Panel-->Sounds menu and all is working beautifully. Thanks again for the advice!

Right click the volume icon>playback>recording> microphone>properties>levels, make sure that the mic isn't muted.
