Automatically Stay On Even With Lost Of External Power Source

Hello, I am currently using the GPSMAP 86sci. I am using it for long duration route tracking where I would leave it recording overnight for a couple of days. I would connect it to an external power bank for the battery to last longer. However, as I am not always present with the gps, when the power bank runs out, the GPS will prompt a message for external power loss (as attached). Is there a setting I can change to allow the GPS to always stay onn even when the external power is lost?

The Garmin GPSMAP 86sci has a built-in battery that allows it to operate even if the external power source is lost. However, the battery life will depend on the usage and settings of the device.

To conserve battery life, you can adjust the power settings of the GPSMAP 86sci by following these steps:

  1. Press the "Menu" button on the device.
  2. Select "Settings" and then "System".
  3. Select "Power Management" and then "Battery Save".
  4. Adjust the settings to your preference. For example, you can reduce the backlight brightness or decrease the timeout time.
  5. Press "Save" to apply the changes.

Additionally, you can turn off unnecessary features or functions when not in use to further conserve battery life. For example, you can turn off the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or GPS functions when you are not using them.

If the device is still automatically staying on even with the loss of external power source and draining the battery, it may indicate a hardware issue. In this case, it is recommended to contact Garmin customer support for further assistance.
