Hi! This is a common problem with your vehicle model. To fix it, remove the trim panel, and clear dust or any foreign material in the tailgate. Reach your arm in and find two plastic optical sensors which tell the gate whether the glass is up or down; both are likely coated with dust. After cleaning these the tailgate should be back to its normal operation. The two sensors are flat, round - about the size of a nickel or dime.
