Lid Switch

My lid was locked closed and the machine would not operate.  Using a screw driver, I was able to disengage the switch to lift the lid.  Every time I put the lid back down, it stayed locked closed.  Is the problem a bad lid switch, or something more?

From what you have mentioned, you could either have a bad lid switch or board. My money is on the lid switch in this case. Depending on your model number, this part can cost upwards to $80 out of pocket with no warranty. You may want to contact the manufacturer to see if you have any limited or extended warranty before purchasing outright.
