About Fuel Gauge

i have a 2000 winstar why would my fule gauge stop working

Could be a number of things. The slider had been moving up and down depending on how much fuel is in the tank for 15 years after all, and could have failed. The float could have gotten a hole in it, filled with fuel, and won't float any more so it sits on the bottom and tells you you are empty. The wire could have fallen out of the plug, or the needle on the dash may not be working.

It's a bit complicated to fix, you will have to drop the tank and remove the sending unit and probably replace it, then get the tank back in place and secured again with the straps. Unless you have a fairly well equipped shop, I'd leave it to a mechanic.
