Air In The Fuel Rail

2002 ford Windstar se 3.8 it starts up fine drive as far as I want to if I put it in park leave it running after a few min it will start running rough like it misfires ( which it is when this happens) also happens if I turn it off and try to start again. If I let pressure out of valve on fuel rail (6 or 7 times) it will start and run fine. What is causing this? Temp. Of fuel seems to b warmer then I think it should be

Possible causes

1. Bad fuel pump

2. A bad Fuel pressure regulator (could be a broken diaphragm within the FPR)
