Facebook Is Saying I Can Recover My Account But Doesnt Tell How

I have signed into my facebook account from this computer and this location twice in the past week. I signed in and requested a change of password which I was able to do by receiving the code and using it in the correct manner. Then I received an email stating that I am not signing in from where I AM signing in. I have never signed in from any other location or computer.  They want me to give my birthdate.. I provided that and it says its not my birthdate. When searching for answers I ran across information about recovering my account by my friends receiving codes and me getting the codes from them. But it doesnt tell you how to go about doing that. Does anyone have any idea or does anyone know if there is a direct way to email customer support at Facebook. I havent used my account since I signed on until recently...now Im beginning to understand why.

Facebook is quite spammed. All the time Facebook finds ways to stop spammers, and spammers find ways to trick facebook. Due to that, ordinary users can get penalized. Especially new users. Those that have an account for several years won't get penalized that easily.

You can always verify your account by the phone number. That way, they will cut you a little slack.

Facebook implement a policy called "Acceptable use"

They can set limits to how often you can use a feature.

If you use it too often, they can stop you from using it for a while. Not only is this to stop you from spamming other users, it's there to provide protection to facebook (too many requests can bring the server to its knees, which means facebook goes down).

I suggest you wait for the feature to be unlocked (should only be a short while), and then tone it down on the usage. This includes reseting passwords and or changing any information like your email as well.

Here is all the info I could find on why this is happening. Hope it helps.

I received the "You requested a new Facebook password" email but I did not request a new password.

If you have received a Facebook password reset email that you did not request, it is likely that someone accidentally entered your email address or username when attempting to log in to their account. This often happens if you have a popular username or email address. As long as you do not click the link contained in the email, no action will be taken, and your account will remain secure.

However, if you receive a second email confirming that your password was reset, please visit the our Security section and take steps to secure your account. /help/?faq=17511

I am not receiving the email to reset my password.

  1. Check the Junk/Spam mail folder in your email account in case the email to reset your password was misdirected by your email provider.
  2. Remember to check the inbox of all email addresses and mobile numbers to which you may have sent the password reset email. When you request a password reset, you will see a list of any email addresses and mobile numbers confirmed on your account. Note that for security reasons, parts of the email addresses and phone numbers will be hidden (e.g., [email protected], xxxxxxx5555).
  3. If you’re unable to find the password reset email, try to reset your password again by clicking here.
  4. After requesting a password reset a second time, if you still do not receive the email, wait 24 hours and try again. We may be experiencing temporary site issues that are affecting password reset emails.
  5. If you’re still not receiving the password reset email after the trying the four steps above, contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider) to make sure they’re not blocking email traffic coming from Facebook.

Tip: For security reasons, we limit the number of password resets that can be requested for an account in a short period of time. If you request to reset your password too many times too quickly, you may be blocked from requesting more for a short period of time. If this happens, wait 24 hours and try again.
