Adding Friend To Closed Group

Why can't I add a friend to a closed group? Her name will not even appear when I click "add members". It is as if she doesn't exist/we're not facebook friends.

Hi. Question seem incomplete - especially 'existwere...' but remember that you can only add people you're friends with to a group. Other people can request to join Public or Closed groups but they must be confirmed by an admin before they can join. If you'd like to invite someone you aren't friends with to join a group, you can invite them by email.
