I Was Suspended From Adding Friends For Two Days. Why So?

I was trying to add friends to Facebook from my new winter home in Florida. They made me cancel all my friend requests and suspended adding friends for two days. I was trying to network and make contacts for people in my area. This made me feel like a hacker. I was not Phishing or scamming people just trying to make new contacts. Why is this new friend search a problem. Very upset with F/B. I tried forever to get an awnser from F/B but had no luck whatsoever
