If you forgot your password, Facebook won't show you what it is, but it will allow you to reset it. Go to Facebook.com and click the "Forgot Your Password?" link at the top. You can then follow the prompts to have an email sent to you that will allow you to reset your password. (You may have to wait a day to log in, however.)

There are various possible causes of being locked out, and different solutions.

Facebook may be making an improvement to the database your account is stored on. During this time, you won't be able to gain access to your account. In most instances, this maintenance will last only a few hours. If the issue lasts longer than 24 hours, you may want to try clearing your browser's cache and cookies. If that doesn't work, submit the form at https://www.facebook.com/help/www/186570224871049.
