Epson 4533 Initial Setup Scanner Error

I'm getting a "Scanner Error" during initial setup. I tried powering down and started as instructed on the main screen, but it does not fix the problem. The printer is new out of the box. I cannot continue with setup since I'm getting this error. I have not installed the software yet since the unit has not completed the intial setup. What do I do?

If it happened during initial setup, it sounds like something just wasn't set up correctly. See pages 223-224 of the user manual, and make sure to do the opposite of the procedures described there for transporting the printer (ie. make sure all the trays and guards are opened). Then reboot the printer and see if the message goes away.
