Good Morning franksteve3,

I understand you are looking to clean the cold water filter on your Electrolux front load washer model, EIFLW55HMB. Actually, the cold water filter is not on the washer but on the water inlet valve that feeds the cold water into the washer in the rear. Normally you would want to clean the cold water filter when you find the washer is taking too long to fill the washer with cold water. A washing machine that takes forever to fill may have an inlet screen clogged with mineral deposits and tiny particles of debris. Cleaning or replacing the filter will greatly improve the performance if that is the case. You can clean the filter using water or air once removed from the rear of the washer, sometimes you may find you will need to replace the filter if it damaged during the removal. They are inexpensive and can be located at your local appliance parts stores. I hope this information proves helpful to you.

Thanks,
