Beater Bar Engaged &vacuum On But Wand Won't Engage & Vacuum Is Silent

We have a DC17 Animal dyson, there was a clog and my daughter didn't recognize it so it over heated. I cleaned the clog and the filter, unplugged& let the dyson motor cool. I started it back up and the beater bar part works but when I place the vacuum in upright position to use the wand, it does not run ( no vacuum noise even) but if you engage beater bar it is still on.
