Changing Channel On Tv Not The Cable Box?

what if I want to change the channels on the TV instead of the channels on the cable box is there a code for that?

The cable box is required because the channels are probably scrambled/encrypted, and the only way to see them is through the cable box. While some channels "might" show through the tv itself without the box, most of the channels will probably not be available. Depending on your company your with and your tv, you might be able to get something called a cablecard instead of the box.
