Surround Sound Issues

Ran auto set up for my Denon AVR-1913. Got an error on the surround speakers so skipped. Even with the error, I get sound through the surround speakers when playing a blueray movie, or watching TV, but no sound comes through surround speakers when playing music, whether through my Blue Ray player, CD, or Iphone.

So the first thing i would ask you here is: Do your speakers play in stereo when you're playing music or is there no sound through them whatsoever?

If you have stereo sound, here's what i would recommend:-

- Plug your iPhone/iPod/iPad or MP3 player into your AV Receiver

- Check the EQ, Volume, Preset, Source, and sound mode options

- Play with each individual setting (with caution) until you have the sound you desire

The reason for this is that most of the time, music isn't recorded in a surround format. Therefore, during playback you will only get the music blasting towards you. Stereo mode. You want to create or set up a virtual surround environment. It won't sound like you're LIVE at a concert/festival because its digitally enhanced to surround you, but you will get loud, satisfying results.
