The Vostro 320 system uses dual-channel DDR2 SDRAM, which offers a performance advantage over DDR1 memory technology. It supports industry standard 64-bit–wide DIMMs with synchronous SDRAM. The features supported are listed below.
- Support for 800 MHz operation
- Single-channel or dual-channel memory operation, with performance depending on configuration
- Dual-channel symmetric mode, in which both channels are populated with the same size memory. This configuration yields peak memory performance as both channels are used simultaneously.
- Dual-channel asymmetric mode, in which both channels are populated but with different memory amounts. This configuration yields the performance of a single channel of memory with the combined memory size of the two channels.
- Single-channel mode, in which only one channel is populated.
- Up to 6.40 GB/s of theoretical memory bandwidth for 800 MHz memory in single-channel mode and up to 12.8 GB/s in dual-channel mode
- Enhanced power management features (including Suspend-to-RAM)
- Support for unbuffered non-ECC DIMMs only
- Serial Presence Detect (SPD) scheme for DIMM detection
- 240-pin DDR2 DIMM connector as specified in JEDEC DDR2 DIMM spec
- Support for selective command-per-clock accesses
