Hi,

Please click on the link below to check the order details of the laptop to find out if the system was shipped with windows 7 disk or not:

http://dell.to/uIo3ef

In order to find the order details, enter the Service Tag., click on warranty tab in the same page, and go to “System Configuration”. Click on “Components” tab and windows recovery disk. If windows recovery is not listed, it means there is no windows recovery disk sent with the computer

You can also follow the steps below that can fix the issue:

1. If there was a previous Hardware replacement
(Motherboard, Hard Drive, Memory, etc. ) then proceed to step 3.

2. If you have reinstalled/upgraded to Windows 7 then
would suggest you to reinstall windows again.

3. Please update the latest bios of the computer.

You can download the latest version of the bios from the link below.

http://dell.to/uIo3ef

On the support site please enter the service tag and then select the operating system which you are using. Then download the bios and install it on the computer.

Once you have updated the BIOS or in case you have the latest BIOS installed then try the steps below:

Click start=> on the search programs and files box, type Msconfig and hit enter. You would see a screen where we need to choose Services Tab, Tick the checkbox Hide all Microsoft Services. Click Apply and Ok.

Click on start and type command (cmd) with run as administrator option or check how to open elevated command prompt

Now type following command

slmgr.vbs /rilc

slmgr.vbs -ipk

To activate windows after changing the key, run 'slmgr.vbs -ato'

Please reply if you have any further questions.

Thanks & Regards
Rathish C
