Dell Inspiron 5520 Wont Load. Beeps 4 Times Then Pauses And Beeps Again?

I have a Dell Inspiron 5520, it will not load, or work ! Yesterday, browsing Pandora, and on Facebook, my laptop of 1.5 years started malfunctioning. I noted the screen became choppy, and distorted, and I turned it off thinking "Maybe it'll work after I do this." I turn it on the light on the power button, flashed on, flashed off, then the system began beeping ! It'd beep four times pause, and beep four times again ! I'm calling Dell Customer service soon, but for now; What do you think is the issue here ? Thanks in advance !

Greetings - Four beeps points to failing Memory Modules or RAMs - (while the laptop is off) you can try to remove the plastic panel that incloses the RAMs at the base of the laptop (probaly held by one or two screws) and take out one of the two and try to reboot it and observe - if that does not do, replace the one previosly removed and take out the other one and try to reboot (you can also try swapping them). Hope this helps

Hope that is helpful.

Hi Davidvwallace96,

Four beeps indicate RAM failure. Here is the link http://dell.to/16H08tw which would show you the steps to remove and reseat the Memory module. Once you are on this webpage, click on the user manual and navigate to page Number – 19:

Try to boot the system with only one memory module first and then the second one to check functionality. I would also request you to try a different good known memory module if available.

Please reply if you have any further queries.

Thanks & Regards
Rathish C
