A Phillips screwdriver
A pair of needle-nose pliers
A new pull cord
Here are the steps on how to replace the pull cord on a Cub Cadet SS470:
Disconnect the spark plug wire. This will prevent the engine from starting while you are working on it.
Remove the recoil starter assembly. There are two screws that hold the recoil starter assembly in place. Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws.
Remove the old pull cord. The old pull cord is attached to the recoil starter assembly with a small metal clip. Use the needle-nose pliers to remove the clip and then pull the old pull cord out of the recoil starter assembly.
Install the new pull cord. The new pull cord should be the same length as the old pull cord. Feed the new pull cord through the recoil starter assembly and then attach it to the recoil starter assembly with the metal clip.
Install the recoil starter assembly. Secure the recoil starter assembly with the two screws.
Reconnect the spark plug wire.
Once you have replaced the pull cord, you should be able to start your Cub Cadet SS470 again.
Here are some additional tips for replacing the pull cord on a Cub Cadet SS470:
Make sure that you purchase the correct length of pull cord. The length of the pull cord will vary depending on the model of mower.
Be careful not to overtighten the screws that secure the recoil starter assembly. This can damage the recoil starter assembly.
If you are not comfortable replacing the pull cord yourself, you can take it to a qualified technician for help.
I hope this helps!
