How To Fix Reverse Not Engaging

Hello, I just bought a cub cadet ltx 1040 w/ automatic transmission, the tractor only has 89 hrs. On it, however it will not go in to reverse, when I move the shifter into reverse position it seems like it is in between reverse and neutral, and when I press the accelerator it has a grinding sound, just curious what the cause could be and how to fix it .

Why wont my Cub Cadet go forward or reverse?

Your Cub Cadet LT 1024 is designed to use hydraulic fluid to power its transmission system instead of a gear shift. This frees your hands to steer while foot pedals control your tractor's forward and reverse movements. If your mower won't move, it's time to inspect for obstructions in the transmission system.

How do you bypass the reverse switch on a Cub Cadet?

Push down on the side tabs on the black plug. Pull the black plug back and out from the white plastic wiring harness. This action disconnects the reverse caution switch. Once it is disconnected, the mower's battery cables can be reconnected with the wrench.

Why won't my Cub Cadet blades engage?

Common solutions for: Cub Cadet Lawn mower blades won't engage. ... If the PTO clutch is not getting power, if the clutch solenoid is defective, or if the clutch is worn out, the lawn mower blades will not engage. The PTO clutch is not repairable-if the clutch is defective, you must replace it.

How do I put my Cub Cadet in reverse?

To set the mower in reverse mode, come to a complete stop and turn the blades off. Depress the brake pedal and move the shift lever into reverse position. Finally, turn the key to the reverse/caution mode. Push the PTO/blade lever to the on position to engage the blades.

Why does my hydrostatic transmission won't move?

Entraining. By far, the most common reason for hydrostatic transmission failure is old hydraulic fluid. John Deere states that "Operating outside of the recommended oil air temperature range may cause premature hydrostatic transmission failure." Oil must be changed when its anti-foam additive decays.
