How To Get The Belt Tight

Here are the steps on how to adjust the belt tensioner:
Turn off the mower and disconnect the spark plug wire.
Raise the mower deck.
Locate the belt tensioner. It is a spring-loaded device that is located on the underside of the mower, near the engine.
Use a wrench to turn the adjusting bolt on the belt tensioner. Turning the bolt clockwise will tighten the belt, and turning it counterclockwise will loosen the belt.
Adjust the belt tension so that there is about 1/2 inch of play in the belt when you pull it up at the midpoint.
Lower the mower deck and start the mower. Check the belt tension again and make sure it is still correct.
If you are still having trouble getting the belt tight, you may need to replace the belt.
Here are some additional tips for adjusting the belt tension:
Make sure that the belt is routed correctly around all of the pulleys.
If the belt is old or worn, it may need to be replaced.
If the belt is still loose after adjusting the tensioner, you may need to replace the tensioner spring.
If you are not comfortable adjusting the belt tension yourself, you can take your mower to a qualified technician.
