Re Fake Ads Being Posted UnderWe Have Had Many F

re fake ads being posted under We have had many fake ads posted under cell and now our home phone number. I have sent in many complaints with the posted id numbers but have heard nothing back from you and the ads are still continuing. This has been going on for 5 years now. We have many police files open but due to the fact that you will not give us the url or ip address of these ads we cannot do anything. We have received countless calls over the years as these ads are for free items, such us, a porsche, various tv's, leather couches, lawn mowers, car parts, etc. Can you imagine how many calls we received for a free porsche. There is no flag option to get rid of the ads so we continually receive calls. Is there anyway we can stop this from happening.I feel there are 2 options #1- you give us the ip address or url #2 - we set up a confirmation security code that goes directly and each time before the ad is posted it goes to that number for confirmation. We have tried to reach craigslist many times but they don't seem to be bothered. Since this is the main corporate office perhaps you could take the time to at least contact us. I am considering going to the media, better business bureau, or anyone else that might listen. Please contact us with anything you could do do for us. thank you.Don Mortimore14463-79 avenuesurrey, bcv3s 8c1 604-781-6000

1. You seem to be confusing us (an independent help site) with Craigslist. I don't know why you think we're the "main corporate office" of Craigslist.

2. It's unfortunately true that Craigslist will not ordinarily respond to individual requests for help, no matter how worthy, from users who do not pay for the service. You may not be interested in the reasons, but Craigslist has an immense user base and a tiny staff.

3. By all means go the complaint route that you mention, if you like. It will, I'm afraid, be a waste of your time.

4. What you describe happens occasionally, very often by accident (someone makes a mistake while typing his/her phone number), and there's really not too much you can do. If accidental, the problem usually dissipates fairly quickly, as ads automatically expire and the poster of the ad is likely to catch the error before reposting. You may want to create an outgoing message alerting Craigslist responders of the error, and asking others to hold on. Although I can't assure you it will help, various feedback and other contact options are provided at http://sfbay.craigslist.org/contact.
