I Have. A 2010 Craftman Pro Pyt9000 That Stoped Working Has Gas In The Oil Tank

I purchased a new Craftman Pro PYT9000 in 2010, i have changed the oil and oilfilter every year and changed the cutting blades once. I tried to start it the other day and it started smoking and stoped, i have looked over everything and found out that I have gas in the oiltank? The unit has been stored inside when not used and been maintained, how can something like this happen and what can I do. I have called service but they can not come untill the 22nd. what can I do, I purchased the 26hp Pro serie so that I would not have problems. what is the cause and what can I do?
