How Do I Know If My Membership Is Still Good?

Go online to Costco.com and register or sign-in and navigate to My Account. If you are already registered at the online site and your sign-in is not accepted don't be discouraged - happens all the time and especially more recently. Just have a temporary password mailed to your email account, enter it and then change it back. (I've actually had to do this 2X today when I wanted to check something)
If your membership has expired, you can easily renew it and the new expiration date will be 1 year from your renewal date.
