Trouble Getting Guide And Chanels To Show Up On Tv

Using my remote I can only get the volume up and down button to work, the on and off button to work and the Chanel up and down button to work. I called comcast days ago and they said it was my remote. I went to local office yesterday and traded in for a new one, still having same problem. I can not punch in the Chanel I want to see nor does the Chanel number show. I can not get my guide channel to show either. This is only on one TV hook up in my home. Please help its really becoming annoying. Thank
