Pc Doesn't Recognize Player Anymore

My pc (Toshiba - Windows 7) doesn't recognize my mp3-player anymore. The display says "USB Connected" and the battery charges but I don't have access to the folders and I can't synchronise. The laptop displays that there's some kind of USB device connected but when I select the icon, it says that the folder is empty. I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, hardware and software but it's no use. Any ideas what I can do?
