My Computer Running Xp Won't Recognise The Colby Mp 826-8g

I downloaded everything once and after battery ran down accidently I had to zero everything out with paperclip to get anything on screen. Now it won't recognise the Colby I have tried plugging in the USB all diffrent ways, when CPU is off, on/plug in the cable first then the colby any suggestions ? It says it cant find the Colby .
