Check Enguine Light On Uplander

I own an 2008 chevy uplander with flex fuel, the trouble code reads lein mixture on left bank. my mechanic says the computer has adjusted the fuel mixture to run on ethanol based gasoline. I have never used ethonal fuel in vehicle, he says dealer has to reflash computer, or it needs new fuel sensor. car runs good, gas mileage good. We live in ny check eengine light must be off, please give your opinion on this diagnosis. Thanks.
