How To Replace A Back Up Light Switch? Where Exactly Is It As Well?

I'm assuming you have a manual transmission, since this is a common problem with Cobalts. The back up light switch is in the engine compartment, on top of the manual transmission. 

I have included a photo of your back up light switch. Not too hard to replace, but some Cobalt forums state that you have to shift the vehicle into 4th gear in order to access the switch. My guess is that the shifter rods get in the way unless you are in 4th gear. Put it in 4th gear and replace the switch with the car off, of course!
