Car Won't Run

2002chevy cab z24 2.4.  Spark plugs keep breaking. Car runs fine then all of a sudden runs terrible- smoking -sounds loud -stalls when idling then once up to speed runs excellent again. Can't understand why it runs terrible then wen on highway is quiet and runs great. This happens with every ride.
