Problems With Brake Lights

at first my brakes lights would only come on when car was in park. i had a friend take a look at the wireing and i noticed that my brake peddle was going to the floor. after pumping on the peddle for a while, the brake peddle no longer went to the floor and my brake lights all worked again. the car sat for about 15 min. and when i went to try them again they did not work again. when the lights are not working, when i press the peddle they make a cliking sound. my friend thanks it was something to do with the abs? i took it in to the shop and they said it was the brake switch. i had them replace the switch and i still have no lights unless i pump them. after i pump them they are only good for about 15 min. then i have to pump them again. please any ideas?
