Centurylink Homepage Locks Up On This Computer

CenturyLink Homepage locks up; this computer only.  Disabled virus protection; changed homepage to Yahoo. and can use the internet that way.  Avast claims not their problem but with $119 will diagnose remotely if internet is stable.  Removed Ask toolbar and Google Chrome; now what?
