Scanning Stops Working At Least Once-a-month

Can you tell me what I have to do to keep the scanning to desktop function working for more than 1 month? The Printing always stays up, but the scanning Toolbox that comes with the unit gets stuck, only way I have found to fix it is to delete and reinstall (pain-in-my-ass) once a month :( Any ideas?
