You either have an electrical problem with the clutch or you haven't charged the system to the minimum pressure for the compressor to engage.

You said you charged your a.c. unit so I'm guessing you used a refill can w/a gauge so you could know that the charge was sufficient. If not you may want to put one on it to be sure. The a.c pump will not stay on w/out the right pressure, it will just cycle on for a second and kick right back out again. If it was charged correctly and still not working, I would go to the relay located under the hood. It is on the drivers side above the wheel well in front of your strut tower. You will find a plastic door with fuses in it, and a couple relays. I believe your a.c. relay is the upper one but check the help tag posted there to be sure. If this is not the culprit you may want to consider taking the car to a qualified mechanic.
